The MCSO SHIELD program is a paid leadership and life skills academy designed for high school–aged youth who are ready to grow as leaders through education, discipline, and service. Interns participate in a structured 12-week program that combines leadership instruction, life skills education, physical training, and experiential learning in public service. This role focuses on building integrity, resilience, teamwork, and personal accountability through evidence-based leadership models, financial literacy, job readiness training, and civic engagement. Students are expected to attend all scheduled sessions, actively engage in learning activities, uphold academy standards, and demonstrate a commitment to personal growth and service to others. This position offers meaningful mentorship, professional exposure, and skill-building experiences that extend beyond the classroom and support long-term academic, career, and community success.
The concept is simple — a program that teaches leadership, financial well-being, physical fitness, academics, and essential life skills to help young people prevail.
The SHIELD Program empowers high school juniors and seniors through leadership training, life skills development, and hands-on experience in public service. By combining classroom learning, physical training, and real-world leadership practice, young adults learn how to succeed as students, leaders, and future professionals.
