On January 9, 2024 at 4:09 p.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 3000 block of Redman Rd. in the Town of Clarkson for an incident on a school bus. A 10-year-old student called her mother from the bus saying a school employee inappropriately touched her while on the bus. After a thorough investigation, including reviewing the school district’s surveillance video from the bus, there was no evidence of an inappropriate touch by the employee.
Before the arrival of the deputies, the mother, Crystal Ames, drove to the school bus’ location, forced open the bus doors, and removed her daughter. Ames again boarded the bus and proceeded to confront the school employee, striking him in the face. The actions by Ms. Ames on the school bus caused distress among numerous children.
Crystal L. Ames, 31, of Hamlin is charged with:
- Assault in the Third Degree (Class A–Misdemeanor)
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A–Misdemeanor) (2 Counts)
Ms. Ames was issued an appearance ticket this afternoon and released in accordance with NYS law.
MCSO appreciates the full cooperation of the Brockport Central School District during this investigation.
