Deputies Arrest Juvenile on Probation After Injuring Deputy and Leading Police on a Pursuit

On June 15, 2026 at 4:24 p.m., the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Brighton Police Department were co-dispatched to the 3000-block of Brighton-Henrietta Townline Road for the report of a burglary with four males breaking into an abandoned home.

Deputies arrived to find two vehicles exiting a parking lot across from the home in question. One vehicle was a dark-colored pickup truck occupied by three males; the other vehicle was a black Honda SUV occupied by one male.

The occupants in both vehicles matched the description provided by the caller, prompting deputies to stop at the parking lot exit and order them from their respective vehicles. All three individuals in the pickup truck complied and were eventually turned over to Brighton Police as part of the original burglary investigation. The driver of the SUV refused to comply and sped around deputies, accelerating down Brighton-Henrietta Townline Road.

Information was broadcasted and responding MCSO units located the SUV in the 3000-block of S. Winton Road, stopped in a business parking lot because of traffic. Two deputies approached the vehicle on foot and informed the driver that he was under arrest. The driver refused to comply with the deputy’s command to exit the vehicle, prompting deputies to contact the driver while he was still in the vehicle. As they reached into the vehicle, the driver recklessly sped off, causing injury to one deputy’s arm and narrowly missing the foot of the other deputy.

MCSO units in the area located the SUV again, and the driver led deputies on a pursuit that was ultimately canceled in the interest of public safety.

The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment and, thankfully, his injuries were minor. MCSO is pleased to report the deputy was released hours later and has returned to full-duty.

Investigators teamed with deputies to continue the investigation and confirm the driver’s identity. As a result of their efforts, deputies assembled on the morning of June 16, 2026, and worked throughout the day to locate and apprehend the juvenile driver without further incident.

One Male Juvenile (17-years old), of Pittsford, is charged with:

  • Assault in the Second Degree – Class D-Felony
  • Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree – Class A-Misdemeanor
  • Resisting Arrest – Class A-Misdemeanor
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree - Class A-Misdemeanor
  • Reckless Driving
  • Thirteen traffic citations related to the pursuit

The juvenile was processed by deputies at MCSO B-Zone and then transported to Monroe County CAP court. Following arraignment, a Monroe County Judge remanded the juvenile to the Children’s Detention Center on $5,000 cash bail pending his next court appearance. At the time of this arrest, the juvenile was on probation for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree and has several recent law enforcement contacts.

MCSO would like to extend our gratitude to the Brighton Police Department and the New York State Police for their assistance.

This incident highlights the dangers law enforcement officers face while serving and protecting our community. We are thankful the deputy's injuries were minor and that no innocent motorists or pedestrians were injured. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to holding individuals accountable for reckless and violent actions while continuing to make decisions that prioritize the safety of the public.
