Deputies Arrest Predicate Felon for Murder of Perinton Resident
On Wednesday evening, May 27, 2026, Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Tyree Ross-Simmons, 35, of Rochester, and charged him with Murder in the second degree, a Class A-1 Felony. Ross-Simmons shot and killed Ezra John Nunez, 32, at his apartment, located at 7323 Pittsford Palmyra Rd., Perinton earlier in the day.
Ross-Simmons, a predicate felon with convictions in multiple states, was arraigned on the murder charge in CAP Court this morning (May 28th) and is being held in the Monroe County Jail without bail.
The Regional Investigative Operations Center (RIOC) was instrumental in this arrest, quickly becoming the hub of the investigation. The technology, in concert with the dedicated personnel and experienced deputies, proved to be invaluable.
“Again, a repeat offender terrorizing our community,” said Sheriff Todd K. Baxter. “I want to highlight the use of the technology, the incredible work of the RIOC staff and our investigators who worked diligently to arrest this predicate felon and provide answers for the victim’s family as quick as possible.”
These kinds of investigations demonstrate how good police work with the right people successfully remove criminals from our streets. Investigators with our Major Crimes Unit, deputies, and technicians worked tirelessly into the evening Wednesday to ensure the person responsible for this heinous crime was swiftly apprehended and charged.
We appreciate our partners at the Rochester Police Department and the Monroe Crime Analysis Center for their assistance with this investigation.
