MCSO Releases BWC of Deputy-Involved Shooting on August 9, 2026

On August 20th, 2026, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office released body-worn camera footage BWC Video Link capturing events leading up to, and including the deputy-involved shooting on August 9, 2026, at the Super 8 Motel, located at 1000 Lehigh Station Road in the Town of Henrietta.

This shooting resulted in the death of Gregory Kase, 62, of Henrietta.

The BWC footage is from the two Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies who were directly involved in the initial response to the Super 8 Motel at approximately 4:06 p.m. Those deputies are: 

• Deputy Piper               6 years of service
• Deputy Gorman          6 years of service

 We recognize the profound impact this incident has had on the family and friends of Mr. Kase, as well as the deputies involved. We extend our thoughts to all those affected by this incident.

 No other members of the community or law enforcement were injured during the incident.

 The New York State Attorney General’s Office continues its investigation, in parallel with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office’s internal review of the incident.
