Multi-Agency GIVE Detail Leads to Arrest of Two Warrant Suspects and the Recovery of 14 Stolen Vehicles

On June 17th, 2026, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the New York State Police and the Rochester Police Department in an eight-hour public safety detail as part of GIVE - Gun Involved Violence Elimination. GIVE is a grant-funded initiative designed to reduce violence and enhance public safety through proactive law enforcement partnerships.

By incorporating the Regional Investigative Operations Center (RIOC) for real-time information and the increasing use of technology such as License Plate Readers (LPR), detail members have enhanced their ability to identify criminal activity and apprehend offenders. At the conclusion of this detail, members conducted 65 traffic stops, issued 102 traffic citations, recovered 14 stolen vehicles, and completed five felony arrests, 1 violation arrest, and three warrant arrests.

The detail also yielded the following significant arrest:

At 5:30 p.m., a deputy received a License Plate Reader (LPR) activation for a stolen 2014 Mazda 6 in the area of Empire Boulevard and Clifford Avenue in the City of Rochester. Deputies searched the area and located the vehicle as it continued westbound on Clifford Avenue. The Mazda then pulled into a commercial parking lot in the 1200 block of Clifford, where officers approached the vehicle and took the occupants into custody.

Vashaun Wright, 24, and Donavan Greenaway 25, both of Rochester, are charged with:

  •  Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (Class D-Felony)

Both suspects are repeat offenders with outstanding warrants for their arrest.

Deputies processed Wright and Greenaway at MCSO B-Zone before they were transported to Monroe County CAP court for arraignment.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office extends its gratitude to the New York State Police, the NYSP Aviation Unit, and the Rochester Police Department for their partnership, which contributed to the success of this enforcement detail.

As technology continues to advance, tools such as LPR and the RIOC are proving to be valuable force multipliers to help law enforcement respond more effectively to criminal activity. The combination of these resources enhances our ability to protect the community, disrupt repeat offenders, recover stolen property, and hold those responsible accountable while keeping public safety at the forefront of everything we do.
