Suspect Arrested After Overnight Crime Spree Involving Multiple Stolen Vehicles in Clarkson
On May 3, 2026, at 10:58 p.m., deputies were called to the 9600 block of W. Ridge Road in Clarkson. The caller reported a male, later identified as Jason Reed, was in her driveway acting suspiciously.
When deputies arrived, Reed left in a gray sedan before deputies could speak with him. Deputies interviewed the caller to learn what transpired, and based on the information she provided, searched the area for Reed and the vehicle.
At 11:20 p.m., deputies located Reed in the same sedan, parked on W. Ridge Road. As deputies approached, Reed sped off, leading to a short pursuit before deputies canceled in the interest of public safety. During the pursuit, deputies obtained the license plate of the vehicle and notified the owner, who confirmed the vehicle was stolen.
As deputies remained in the area in search of Reed, they received a call at 1:16 a.m. for a male attempting to break into a truck on Lifetime Way. The male left the area in a white pickup truck prior to the deputies arriving. Deputies located the truck abandoned nearby with Reed walking in the area and took him into custody. After confirming the truck was stolen earlier in the night, deputies also recovered the gray sedan.
Jason S. Reed, 47, of Albion, is charged with:
- Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, 2 counts (Class D-Felony)
- Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class B-Felony)
- Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
- Reckless Driving (Unclassified Misdemeanor)
- Traffic citations related to the short pursuit
Deputies transported Reed to Monroe County CAP court on the morning of May 4th, 2026, for arraignment. Following arraignment, Reed was released to pre-trial services.
The combination of quick reporting by residents and the persistence of the deputies led directly to the suspect’s arrest and the recovery of two stolen vehicles. We encourage the public to continue reporting suspicious activity promptly.
This incident serves as an important reminder to always remove keys and valuables from your vehicle and lock your doors, even when parked at your residence. Taking these simple steps can help prevent crimes of opportunity.
