Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Arrests in Rush

At 2:43 a.m. on September 29, 2026, a Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a proactive traffic stop on Interstate 390 in the Town of Rush.

Deputies identified Alisha Crary as the driver and Kenneth Nixon as the passenger. During the investigation, deputies determined Ms. Crary’s New York State driver’s license was suspended.

The investigation led to the discovery of suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia, including:

  • 25.9 grams of crack cocaine
  • 5 grams of fentanyl
  • 11 capsules containing crack cocaine
  • 91 pills pending laboratory testing to determine their chemical composition
  • A large quantity of new packaging materials commonly associated with the distribution of narcotics

Alisha M. Crary, 43, of Rochester is charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class B-Felony) (3 counts)
  • Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree (Unclassified Misdemeanor)

Ms. Crary was transported to the Monroe County Jail, arraigned in CAP Court and released to pretrial services.

Kenneth L. Nixon, 43, of Rochester is charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class B-Felony) (3 counts)
  • Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)

Mr. Nixon, a predicate felon, was transported to the Monroe County Jail, arraigned in CAP Court and remanded without bail.

This incident is another example of how proactive traffic enforcement can lead to the discovery of more serious criminal activity. We commend the deputy whose initiative and thorough investigation resulted in the seizure of dangerous narcotics and two felony arrests.
