On January 2, 2025, at approximately 7:34 p.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an apartment complex on Gleason Circle in the Town of Pittsford for the report of people breaking into cars. Deputies observed a 2018 red Kia Sportage and 2019 blue Hyundai Elantra, stolen from Gleason Circle, leaving the scene. The drivers refused to pull over when deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop and continued at a high rate of speed. Subsequently, the Elantra crashed on Route 441 near I-490. One suspect was arrested at the scene, and two others attempted to evade capture by fleeing into nearby woods. Deputies conducted a thorough search of the wooded area with the assistance of MCSO K9 and New York State Police Aviation and took the suspects into custody.

The Kia Sportage continued on into the City of Rochester before crashing in the area of Kingsboro Road and Genesee Park Boulevard, resulting in the driver being immediately taken into custody.

Two suspects received medical treatment at a local hospital. MCSO investigators and deputies interviewed all four suspects (3 males, 1 female), and developed evidence implicating two of them in the Christmas larcenies at the Guardian Angels Church in Henrietta.

“I fear for the safety of our community and my deputies as this recklessness continues,” said Monroe County Sheriff Todd K. Baxter. “I am proud of the tenacious law enforcement officers who put their own safety at risk in an effort to stop the senseless behaviors of others. I implore the families of these young people who are wreaking havoc in our streets, damaging property, and creating financial and personal hell for the victims, to seek available help for your sons and daughters. The steadfast and passionate work of youth development organizations over the years is to be applauded, yet we continue to witness what seems like thousands of families destroyed and kids lost. Something must change. We must keep pressure on our legislators and work with them to improve laws.”

Javionte Webb was issued an appearance ticket and released. Deputies transported the 16- and 17-year-old males to the Hillbrook Juvenile Detention Center in Syracuse, as the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center was at capacity. The 16-year-old female was issued an appearance ticket and released to a guardian.
