At 1:04 a.m. on June 3rd, 2025, Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residential fire in the Town of Pittsford's Reeves Road neighborhood. A vigilant neighbor smelled smoke, saw flames at the back of the house and called 911. Upon arrival, deputies observed the rear of the home was engulfed in flames. After learning the 90-year-old resident was still inside, deputies made entry into the residence, successfully located the woman, who had been awoken by the smoke alarms, and assisted her evacuation.
The Pittsford Fire Department extinguished the blaze and conducted a search of the residence for other occupants. Emergency medical services conducted an on-site medical assessment of the resident. Emergency Enclosures responded to secure the house.
The deputies’ selfless act to enter a burning building to assist a community member in need, along with the rapid response from the Pittsford, Brighton, East Rochester, Henrietta, Bushnell’s Basin Fire Departments, Pittsford, Honeoye Falls Lima and Brighton Ambulances, helped save the woman’s life.
The Monroe County Fire Bureau is investigating the fire.
