UPDATE (11/14/25):
On November 13, 2025, at 2:15 a.m., the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a homeowner reporting her vehicle was just stolen from her driveway on Rand Place in Pittsford.
Over the next two hours, deputies and Fairport Police Department received several calls from different areas within Perinton and Penfield for residents reporting similar damage or larcenies from their vehicles. The largest concentration of reports centered between Route 441 and Whitney Road, areas west of Route 250.
While Fairport Police Department responded to a High Street address for one of the reports, that officer observed a gold Kia Sportage in the area of the reported larcenies. Fairport police attempted to stop the Kia but the driver refused to stop for police. Deputies assisted and the pursuit continued through Perinton. During the course of the pursuit, police learned the Kia they were pursuing was also reported as stolen. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed in the area of Green Ridge and Green Valley Roads in Perinton. The occupants of the vehicle ran on foot into a nearby wooded area.
Deputies established a perimeter and called in additional resources to include K9, drone and the New York State Police Helicopter. Part of their response was centered on the report of a stolen loaded-handgun, registered as still outstanding, in one of the vehicles... Through perseverance that extended for several hours after the pursuit ended, law enforcement officers worked through freezing temperatures and thick brush in an attempt to locate the suspects. As police located suspects, investigators immediately began to interview them. While law enforcement officers continued the search, MCSO investigators were able to confirm there were five suspects in the vehicle just prior to the collision. By late morning, all five suspects were safely taken into custody. The loaded handgun was discarded by one of the suspects in the woods and was recovered by deputies.
“Early Thursday morning, our community experienced a crime spree that victimized hundreds of our neighbors,” states Sheriff Todd Baxter. “The incredible teamwork, coordination, leadership, and tenacity demonstrated throughout this investigation was once again on full display. I could not be prouder of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and our partner agencies. This is outstanding police work carried out by exceptional professionals dedicated to their craft.”
With the suspects in custody, deputies turned their focus to the community members who were victimized overnight, and technicians worked to process evidence and collect personal property that was recovered.
Through the actions of these five individuals, there were more than 100 vehicles that were entered illegally or damaged according to reports completed by Fairport Police and MCSO deputies. In many of these cases, vehicle windows were smashed or door handles were damaged to gain entry. Damage to vehicles is a cost that is passed onto insurance companies or individuals themselves if they are not fortunate enough to have insurance coverage. Beyond that, MCSO is upset for the victims who we know have to take time to file a police report, file insurance claims, obtain repairs for their vehicles, and replace stolen property. With their vehicle damaged, we have victims who were late or missed work, school, and important appointments.
Sheriff Todd Baxter adds, “This incident also highlights a deeper issue: we need tougher laws and stronger family-intervention services. For example, when someone flees from the police in a vehicle pursuit, the risk of injury or death to the public and to our deputies is extraordinary, yet under current law, it is only a misdemeanor. It should be clear as day that if you flee from a law-enforcement officer and endanger the community, you should be facing a felony. Our laws must reflect the seriousness of these crimes and the dangers they create. Our community deserves nothing less.”
Sheriff Baxter also notes that on top of the cost of vehicle repairs and missed commitments, there is a cost to the entire community. This investigation, along with the resources called in to assist, is conservatively estimated to exceed $19,500.00. That cost does not address the reduction in patrol coverage for our streets and neighborhoods that extended throughout the morning, or include the cost of the vehicle repairs.
The following individuals Dayshaun Wilson, 19, Xavion S. Goolsby, 18, and a 16-year-old Juvenile, all of Rochester, are charged with:
- Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (Class D-Felony)

- Possession of Burglar Tools (Class A-Misdemeanor)
A 15-year-old Juvenile is charged with:

Deputies transported Wilson and Goolsby to Monroe County CAP court and following arraignment, both are being held in the Monroe County Jail on $25,000 cash / $50,000 bond.
Deputies transported the 16-year-old juvenile to Monroe County Family Court and following his appearance, he is being held at the Monroe County Children’s Center in Rush.
The 15-year-old juvenile was released to the custody of family with an appearance ticket.
The fifth suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile, was not charged.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.

UPDATE (11/13/25):
In connection with this morning’s investigation, MCSO can confirm we have five suspects in custody at this time; there is no indication there are more outstanding.
Investigators are currently conducting interviews of the suspects. Deputies are currently in the involved neighborhoods collecting evidence and reports for vehicles that were entered by the suspects. The areas that appear to have the largest concentration of vehicles entered are neighborhoods in northern Perinton and southern Penfield that are located off Whitney Road and Route 441.
We estimate there are over 100 vehicles involved at this point and it will take an extended period of time to process. We have no indication there is a threat to public safety but ask our community members to call 911 if they have any information or home camera footage that may show any suspicious activity from last night.
This investigation is still very active and we will provide more details as we are able to confirm them.
We also want to remind our community at this time to please remove all valuables from your vehicle, and lock it when you park.
