On May 22, 2025, at 11:08 a.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Vape King on Main Street in the Village of Hilton for the report of an armed robbery. An individual wearing a mask entered the premises, produced a firearm, and demanded cash and merchandise. The suspect exited the store prior to deputies’ arrival. Deputies established a perimeter and secured the surrounding area. Precautionary notifications were issued to all local schools, followed by a sweep of the surrounding area in search of the suspect by MCSO K9 and Drone units. Further investigation by the MCSO Major Crimes Unit involved interviewing witnesses, gathering video evidence from several locations, and developing a potential suspect.

On May 23, 2025, deputies located the suspect, took him into custody and executed a search warrant on his residence.

The 17-year-old juvenile who resides in Hilton is charged with:

  • Robbery in the First Degree (Class B-Felony)
  • Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree (Class B-Felony)
  • Petit Larceny (Class A-Misdemeanor)

The juvenile was arraigned by a Monroe County Youth Part Judge and remanded to the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center on $10,000 cash or $25,000 bond.
 

The diligent work of the MCSO Major Crimes Unit investigators, Evidence Technicians, K9 Unit, Drone Response Team, and all contributing deputies resulted in the successful resolution of this case.
