Swift Deputy Response Leads to Arrest of Repeat Offenders
On July 28, 2026, at 8:50 p.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies received a call for a larceny in progress at Walgreens, 2665 E. Henrietta Road, in the Town of Henrietta.
While deputies were responding, the caller provided a description of the suspect vehicle and its three occupants as they fled the parking lot. Deputies searched the surrounding area while responding to the location and observed a vehicle matching that description on Hylan Drive near Calkins Road.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop and continued their investigation, confirming the vehicle and its occupants were involved in the reported larceny. Deputies also determined all three individuals had outstanding warrants.
Jason Reed, 48, of Albion, was identified as the driver and is charged with:
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Unclassified Misdemeanor)
- Two traffic citations in relation to the operation of the motor vehicle
Reed was released with his citations for the above charges to appear in Henrietta Town Court at a later date. Following his arrest, Reed was turned over to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding warrant.
Philip Lenhart, 32, of Rochester, attempted to deceive deputies by providing a false name and resisted arrest during the investigation. Lenhart is charged with:
- Petit Larceny (Class A-Misdemeanor)
- Resisting Arrest (Class A-Misdemeanor)
- Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
- Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
Lenhart is also a repeat offender with numerous open criminal cases and was wanted for additional crimes committed in the Town of Greece, and within Monroe County Sheriff’s Office B-Zone and C-Zone patrol areas. He has a prolific history of larceny-related offenses and had outstanding warrants with the Rochester Police Department and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office at the time of his arrest.
Lenhart was processed and transported to Monroe County CAP Court for arraignment.
Robin Vargas, 40, of Rochester, was the third occupant and taken into custody without incident on an outstanding warrant issued by the Rochester Police Department.
The swift response by deputies and the detailed information provided by the caller allowed deputies to quickly locate the suspects and take three individuals with outstanding warrants into custody. Repeat offenders often require a disproportionate amount of law enforcement resources. Through proactive patrol and timely investigative action, deputies continue working to reduce ongoing criminal activity while reinforcing our commitment to public safety and accountability.
