On October 31, 2025 at 10:32 p.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies were called back to a home in Penfield, that they responded to earlier in the evening. This time for the report of a 17-year-old male who hit his head and was unconscious. Deputies arrived and found more than 100 underage individuals in the front yard of the home and in the street. Deputies entered the home and immediately made several observations confirming there was alcohol being consumed inside the home, contradicting homeowner Medina Bijelic’s earlier statements, when deputies were called to the home for the report of underage individuals throwing objects at vehicles.
Deputies moved through the home and located the unconscious individual with an apparent head injury. Teenagers present informed deputies the 17-year-old drank ½ bottle of vodka and was smoking marijuana before he fell and hit his head, becoming unconscious. His blood alcohol level was determined to be at .46%, more than five times the legal limit.
Upon EMS arrival, the unconscious teen was transported to a local hospital with initial life-threatening injuries. He has since been released, and is fortunately expected to make a full recovery.
Following a thorough investigation, thanks to the tenacity of our investigators and deputies, MCSO learned Ms. Bijelic discouraged at least one teenager from calling emergency services for the victim. On December 19, 2025 at 5:30 p.m., investigators met Bijelic at her home and took her into custody without incident.
Medina Bijelic, 49, of Penfield, is charged with:
- Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A-Misdemeanor)
- Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the First Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
Following the arrest, Bijelic was issued a Uniformed Appearance Ticket to appear in Penfield Court at a later date.
"Hosting underage parties with alcohol is dangerous and illegal. This young man could have easily died that night,” states Sheriff Todd Baxter. “The amount of alcohol present to allow one of our young adults to rise to that level of intoxication is nothing short of reckless and we will hold those responsible, accountable.”
MCSO continues to work with the New York State Liquor Authority on all cases of underage alcohol drinking. This incident serves as an important reminder to our young adults.
