On October 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm, Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified by staff at White Haven Memorial Park, located at 210 Marsh Road in Pittsford, that an unknown male was stealing several bronze vases from inside the cemetery’s mausoleums. The male left the cemetery with the stolen vases in a vehicle prior to deputies arriving. Staff was able to provide deputies with a detailed description of the suspect’s vehicle and clothing he was wearing.

Staff at White Haven Memorial Park proactively contacted a local scrap metal processor and provided a description of the stolen property. While deputies were at the cemetery for the initial report, Premier Metal in East Rochester notified staff there was a male at their site attempting to turn in several bronze vases as scrap, in exchange for money.

East Rochester Police Department provided assistance and responded to Premier Metal where they located the individual and his vehicle matching the descriptions given earlier. East Rochester Police detained the male who was later taken into custody by deputies.

Christopher M. Stefano, 42, of Lyons, was in possession of 79 Bronze Vases and one brass handle for a total value of $11,455.00. During the investigation, Stefano was found to be in possession of illegal drugs.

  • Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (Class D-Felony)
  • Cemetery Desecration in the First Degree (Class E-Felony)
