On October 02, 2025, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Unit conducted two search warrants, one on Union Square in Chili and the other on Sherman Street in Rochester. The search warrants were a result of an ongoing investigation into checks that were stolen and forged before they were cashed at a local bank, resulting in a loss of $2,740.00.
Collectively between both locations, investigators seized: one illegal Springfield 9mm handgun with an extended 16-round magazine, evidence and items used to “make” and “wash” checks, and numerous “new in the box” retail items that are likely stolen from local retail outlets.
Giovanni Newport-Beasley, 28, of Rochester is charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class C-Felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D-Felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree (Class D-Felony) (2 counts)
- Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Class E-Felony)
- Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree (Class E-Felony)
- Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
Tyshon D. McCullough, 30, of Rochester is charged with:

- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D-Felony)
- Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Class E-Felony)
- Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree (Class E-Felony)
- Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
Newport-Beasley and McCullough are predicate felons and were arraigned in Monroe County CAP Court on the above charges. Newport-Beasley is currently being held in Monroe County Jail on no bail and McCullough is currently being held on $5,000 cash/$10,000 bond. As the investigation continues, additional criminal charges may be forthcoming for both individuals.
We would like to thank the team of investigators in the Economic Crimes Unit for their diligent work to identify these individuals, and collaborate with several deputies and MCSO SWAT, to successfully take both suspects into custody.
