On October 10, 2024, Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Fairport Central School District for the report of an anonymous threat made over social media. The post threatened violence at the Fairport High School and warned people to avoid coming to the building that day. To enhance safety, deputies increased patrols and gave special attention to the school. Our strong partnership with the district enabled us to quickly determine the threat lacked credibility. The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section became the lead on this case.
On December 11, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s CIS completed an extensive investigation with the arrest of a 17-year-old. Through the use of available resources, investigators pursued and obtained digital evidence related to the suspect.
The Juvenile is charged with:
- Making a Terroristic Threat (Class D-Felony)
The juvenile was arraigned in Youth Part Court and was remanded to the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
This threat had a significant impact on the students, parents, and staff. The safety and security of these individuals is of the utmost importance. We take all of these cases seriously and will continue to work diligently to hold those responsible for threats accountable.
