On August 27, 2025 at 3:30 p.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies were notified by Home Depot Loss Prevention, located at 770 Jefferson Rd., Henrietta, that a serial offender, Christopher Cole, 58, of Brighton, was trespassing on Home Depot property. The loss prevention employee followed Cole to Dick’s Sporting Goods, located nearby at 790 Jefferson Rd., Henrietta (Market Square Plaza), where Cole was seen actively loading a duffel bag with merchandise. Cole passed all points of sale without paying for the merchandise. When the loss prevention employee and a Dick’s employee attempted to stop Cole, he spit in the loss prevention employee’s face.

MCSO deputies responded and attempted to make contact with Cole, who then fled eastbound on foot to Bob’s Furniture, located at 790 Jefferson Rd., Henrietta (Market Square Plaza). Deputies observed Cole leaving the rear of the store. Cole attempted to run north through the parking lot and hid behind a dumpster. While running, deputies ordered Cole to stop multiple times, and he did not. With the assistance of an MCSO K9, deputies apprehended and detained Cole.

Cole was evaluated on scene by EMS and transported to a local hospital for evaluation and medical treatment. Upon his release from the hospital, Cole was transported to MCSO’s B-Zone substation where he was charged and transported to the Monroe County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court Thursday morning (August 28, 2025).

Cole was charged with the following:

  •        Petit Larceny (Class A-Misdemeanor)
  •        Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
  •        Resisting Arrest (Class A-Misdemeanor)
  •        Trespass (Violation)
  •        Harassment in the 2nd Degree (Violation)

Following arraignment in CAP Court, Cole was remanded to the Monroe County Jail, held on $7,500 cash bail, $20,000 bond.

(July 23, 2025) Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a larceny that occurred shortly after noon at the Brockport Walmart, located at 6265 Brockport Spencerport Rd. in the town of Sweden. The suspect left Walmart with merchandise that he did not pay for and then proceeded to Lowes, located at 300 Owens Rd., where he attempted another larceny. The suspect was unsuccessful at Lowes, as he was stopped by store employees before the point of sale. The suspect then took off on foot.

In addition, deputies shut down Brockport Spencerport Rd., between Rt. 260 and Owens Rd., as they continued to search for the individual. The roadway has since been reopened.

The suspect has not been located. The investigation is ongoing.
