On May 2, 2025, following an extensive investigation, Monroe County Sheriff’s investigators assigned to our B Zone substation, executed a search warrant at Mad Flavors Smoke Shop, located at 2761 E. Henrietta Road in the Town of Henrietta. Over the past few months, they worked diligently to develop substantial probable cause to obtain a search warrant for the unlicensed cannabis shop.
The NYS Office of Cannabis Management assisted in the search and categorization of the discovered cannabis products. Code violations and the securing of the building were handled by the Town of Henrietta.
The search resulted in the seizure of:
27 pounds of cannabis flower
- 2 pounds of pre-rolled cannabis joints
- 820 separate packages of THC edibles (many over 50 mg. NYS legal limit is 10 mg.)
- 531 cannabis concentrates
- 650 vapes containing THC
- $44,041.00 in cash
Ahmed S. Mamdoh, 31, of Greece is charged with:
- Criminal Possession of Cannabis in the First Degree (Class D-Felony)
Mohand B. Kowa, 24, of Rochester is charged with:
- Criminal Possession of Cannabis in the First Degree (Class D-Felony)
On May 6, 2025, a second search warrant was conducted at the residence of Mahdi Taouzinet, a Mad Flavors employee on Cor-Mar Lane in the Town of Greece. Deputies seized a loaded Glock 17 with a high-capacity magazine.
Mahdi Taouzinet, 32, of Greece is charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class C-Felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D-Felony)
Mamdoh was transported to the Monroe County Jail, arraigned in CAP Court, and released on his own recognizance.
Kowa was transported to the Monroe County Jail, arraigned in CAP Court and remanded to MCJ on a probation warrant.
Taouzinet was arraigned in CAP Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail on $2,000 cash bail, $4,000 bond.
Our B-zone deputies prioritized the valid concerns of several members of our community, and acted immediately to investigate. As a result, our Criminal Investigation Section became involved and together, in concert with the NYS Office of Cannabis Management and the Town of Henrietta, shut down a dangerous unlicensed cannabis shop.
